Easing into holiday mode in a Beer Garden in Erding

Wie gehts? So after a great start to the trip and two good 12 hour flights I arrived into Munich this afternoon. Unfortunately, Rose did not. Delays in getting into LA meant there was not enough time to go through customs, retrieve luggage, recheck luggage, go through customs again and have Rose make it to the plane's hold. It was a close call for me too - you know you are cutting it fine when you start to hear your name being called on the loud speaker. Oh well, what can you do?



What was interesting was that Lufthansa's lost luggage procedures were second to none and a very smooth operation which included a cash payout and a wee overnight bag for me which makes me wonder how often it actually happens. Fingers crossed Rose catches up with me tomorrow and I can get started - have been told she is on the next plane in.

Still, not all bad! I had planned on staying tonight in a little place called Erding just out of Munich - it's only 10kms from the airport and means I would not have to cycle through a major city. So the delay with Rose gave me a chance to have a look around Erding and ease into acclimatising to Germany. and, of course, gave me a chance to have the local Erdinger beer in a beer garden on a sunny afternoon (as you do). Certainly could be worse!

Right, wish me luck that Rose arrives tomorrow!
